Vendor Highlight: Legit, an awesome band!

Mike and I will sometimes talk about what kind of dance floor we think there will be…this night we were split. Mike thought there would be a steady stream but just the younger crowd would dance since there were two separate rooms–one for dining one for dancing–and that sometimes means that it is harder to lure people away from there table to eat. I thought the dance floor might be crowded since the groom was from a big family and big families tend to bring big energy…if I had known how good the band Legit was I would have bet dinners for a week on it with Mike since they were what put this dance party over the top! There was never a moment when that dance floor was naked…it was full of people and super high energy all night…for the slow songs, the fast songs, the old songs, the new songs, the first dance, the last dance…they kept the party going all night! So if you’re looking for a band that just keeps bringing it to the table all.night.long you’ve found them!

Not the most exciting picture here, folks, but it shows you just how full the dance floor was all night!

They are a floor-lickingly awesome band for sure!

Sprinkler Park at Warren Manning State Forest

Today we had a pretty fun morning….it was time for Chase’s monthly letter so I decided to take the camera along with us to Warren Manning State Park and do some fun pictures of him. If you have kids and are looking for a nice shady spot to play in the water and the “forest” (as Emmie would say) this is a fun place to go! It’s also a State Park so our parking pass that we got at Walden Pond works here as well! Lots of fun trails to walk as well! The light was awesome for some reasons and driving me nuts for others!

Brae-Burn Country Club with Meghann and Jon

Meghann and Jon had such a fun wedding night! They partied hard with tons of dancing at Brae-Burn Country Club and I think one of my favorite moments of the night was when Jon and his 7 siblings were all dancing around their grandmother in her wheel chair…the smile on her face was just awesome. It wasn’t just stand there and move your feet around dancing, either, it was all out crazy fun! Oh, and another favorite moment was right after we finished the portrait session with Meghann and Jon we were heading in to shoot some details before they were announced and I’m 100% sure Jon didn’t know we were behind him when he said to his family, “Man, I hate pictures!!!” Caught totally in this statement when he turned and we were right there he corrected it with…”Oh, I mean, I love you guys, I just hate HAVING my picture taken.” So funny because we know so many people out there don’t love having the camera in their face so for those of you who would rather no be in the picture on your wedding day we do our best to make it quick and painless…and to all the hams out there we do our best to give you the time and space to ham it up!

So back to Meghann and Jon…they are adorable, you’ll see that. They are fun, and full of energy and laughter and they have amazing families that surrounded them on the wedding day. Check out the Escher-esque image of the ring bearer…can you figure out what was going on?

Elegant Backyard Wedding – Details

This was a fantastic 4th (really the 3rd but with a 4th theme) of July wedding in the bride’s cousin’s backyard….it was so elegant and simple and the bride’s was all about organic and the day definitely carried that through for her! Can’t wait to share more of these sweet hearts…Amy just couldn’t be a nicer person and ran around the whole day taking care of everyone on her wedding day!

Vendor Rave: Two Chefs are Better than One Catering

We work with a ton of wedding vendors…caterers, venues, florists, DJs, bands, planners, etc, etc, etc. Sometimes we’re blown away by just how well one of these vendors performs…and Two Chefs are Better than One Catering not only knocked us on our feet they also blew us across the tent. They were nice nice nice, professional, timely, caring, compassionate, fun to be around, and MAN the food was beautiful and delicious! After shooting for 6 hours usually food tastes pretty good, but this food was phenomenal. I should have known at the house when Amy said that we had to make sure we ate…I assured her that we were usually pretty starving by the time we were at the reception and we were looking forward to it…and then her mom made sure to pull me aside to tell me that they really wanted Mike and I to sit down and eat some of the amazing food when we got there. I thought they were just uber polite and thoughtful, which they were, but they also knew just how amazing the menu was going to be! So, our personal thank to Two Chefs for running a very smooth day that ran perfectly on time and for filling our empty bellies so we could push through to the end of the night after a long hot day working! Get ready to drool!

Wedding Details Green and Yellow

Just picking out some blog images for Meghann and Jon’s wedding from June 26 and I really really love these Nantucket baskets bouquets…easy to carry, easy to put down, hydrated all day and super cute next to the green dresses! I can’t wait to post the image from the wedding, this bridal party was so fun! The groom is one of 8 kids and my favorite moment of the night was when they were all gathered around his grandmother in her wheel chair dancing like crazy!

Pahk the Cah in Havahd Yahd with Missy and Joe

Mike met up with Missy and Joe at Peets Coffee (Joe and Missy both worked there which is how they met!) in Harvard Square on his marathon e-session weekend and man, I’m bummed I missed out! They’re totally adorable and stylin’ and that first picture I feel like they’re some famous couple having their coffee in the park and Mike is the paparazzi. According to Emmie Joe is pretty famous since he’s an animator for Word Girl on PBS and that’s pretty amazing in her book…but I have yet to see them in US Weekly so I’m thinking we can’t sell these to the presses….not that we would but just going with the paparazzi theme. So yes, their e-shoot was awesome but their wedding day at the Boston Public Library is going to blow these pictures out of the water, I’m sure! I can’t wait! We owe this couple to my awesome cousin who told them about us, thanks Ryan!

Maudslay Park with Heather and Sean

We edited this sign a bit if you couldn’t tell…Heather and Sean visit this park all the time with their two pups so we thought this was pretty fitting!

There was one weekend about two weeks ago where we had no wedding so we filled it with 5 sessions in 3 days! This is one of those shoots…and Mike came home from this shoot so excited! He said the park was absolutely beautiful and I had warned him that Heather was looking for a lot of direction because she claimed she wouldn’t know what to do in front of the camera…but you know what? I should have also reminded him that she is the daughter of a photographer and he would be just fine…because I can tell from all of the images that they all had a blast and honestly, I was feeling a bit left out! Thank goodness when Mike goes to the e-shoot without me I still get to partake in the wedding, I cannot wait for this on in February!!

Springdell Farm CSA

This year Mike and I heard about an awesome local farm that has CSA (Community Shared Agriculture) shares and we knew we had to sign up! We basically invest in the farm and reap the benefits every Friday. The farm that we found is called Springdell Farm in Littleton, MA and it is family owned and operated! We knew that farms are kind of tricky business because it all depends on the sun and the rain and that we could totally miss with this but it felt good to invest in someone local. This week is week 4 of picking up our big box of yumm and we’re totally in love! This week we have 5 huge zucchini, 6 adorable cucumbers 4 summer squash, 2 pattypan squash, 3 tomatoes with one being gigantic, a big bag of green beans, 4 sugar beets, 2 pints of blueberries that were still warm from the sun, 8 ears of corn, cabbage and a dozen eggs. Next week they said there might be carrots and peaches…yum! The strawberries and honey that we go the first week were unbelievable!

The other awesome thing about doing this is that I have to go to the farm to pick up the share and I park right in front of there farmstand where we can buy some local grassfed beef or pork and on Saturdays from 12-6 they even have fresh seafood. The kids love the raspberries and today they had gooseberries! The director of the CSA said that we are always welcome in the fields and there are fun chickens running around….I really just love picking up the basket and planning our yummy fresh meals for the week!

Anyone have any zucchini recipes that you love? It’s growing really well this year and we’ve already eaten too much of it just steamed with butter and salt….

Boston Public Garden with Debbie and Dave

Mike met up with Debbie and Dave…they met “at the ducks” in the Boston Public Garden at 8am! We’re so programmed to park in the garage that Mike drove by about a million empty spots to pay in the garage! The day was perfect, the light was awesome, the flowers were in bloom and since it was a Sunday morning at 8am there weren’t too many people walking around and they had the place mostly to themselves! I went to school with Debbie but she was a different year than me so we knew of each other but didn’t really know each other…apparently our moms share a mutual friend and Facebook brought us together in time for us to be a part of their awesome wedding that they are planning at the Museum of Science! We’re excited!! Oh, it was also Father’s Day and they were so nice and brought Mike a yummy cupcake…or so he says…I never saw it so it must have been good!!!
